I understand the sentiment but can't help thinking what the small crank can take.

I believe Eric gorr does a kit that takes the displacement out to 240cc ... Not sure if you loose the kips?

EG does a plated cyl 225 retaining KIPS. I believe LA Sleeve makes an iron sleeve 240cc that necessitates losing the KIPS.

Does the 240cc engine have so much torque that you don't need the KIPS system closed ?

Yes I'm wondering that. It depends on what is ment by loosing the KIPS. To me the closest KIPS part is the passage to the KIPS chamber. So that means you loose the side valves and side exhaust ports.
Not that its the end of the world. It's a little old fashioned and has served for many years. Just not a bridged/T port.

I believe the new 240 bore/sleeve is that much larger than the OE item that once installed there just isn't physically enough room for the KIPS & all its workings.

It's reported to have enough torque to not care about the top end....this is generally the desire of someone wanting such an oversquare bore/stroke. Just short shift and let it eat.
