What do those two rings between the clutch plate and hub do?

Hi
I'm making up a Rekluse clutch for my bike and am wondering what those two rings do and will it matter if I leave them out?

Don't use them with the EXP set-up.

Thanks Tedh98
I was thinking that as it would be difficult to thin them down and other clutches seem to manage just fine with out them.

I would just be more comfortable if I knew what there purpose was. Putting pressure on the first steel plate and centralising the friction plates is what it seems to do. But for what purpose.

They're dampening or "jutter" (sp?) springs.

Ok thanks, when I get the hub faces refaced they will have to be very flat then.

Those are some good looking notches on your KDX basket.

Yes I know eBay special. I will get it working so I know what I'm doing first then refine my act.

Every thing is looking like it will work except for the basket fingers are 1/2 a clutch plate to short. I think the only fix is going to be shaving 2mm off the centre hub where it bolts on to the shaft, then take the lip off the plate.
The EXP is supposed to arrive Tuesday so I need to measure how thick that is and make my decision.
