01 kdx200 cylinder

Post by hillbilly3870 »

This is my first kdx and it needs a piston but the cylinder wall are a little ruff so I was wondering if you can bore it or I was told to put a liner in it so are the liners pressed in and out or do you have to have it bored for the liner. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forums.

In stock form, the cylinder has a plating on it. If the plating is damaged, it can be replated at places like Langcourt and Millenium Teechnologies.

So if I don't have the plating done and choose to do the sleeve I will have to have the cylinder bored??

Don't sleeve it. Just have it plated. The replate will last for years

Power Seal also does plating. Little cheaper than Millineum but just as good. Switched to Power Seal 2 cylinders ago with no complaints. If you can, supply a new piston and send it along with the cylinder so they can get the fitment perfect.

The cylinder has to be bored to have a liner put in it. The liner would have to be .0000000000000001 inches thick to just press in there and a piston still fit.

Sleeves are kinda old school and OK in some cases, but plated cylinders have been on dirt bikes for 40 years, so it is not just made yesterday.

You are looking at $200 or so for plating and shipping, then piston, top end gaskets and coolant.

Check out Langcourt or Millenium to see what "replating" is.
