I saw another post mentioning this "magically smooth" needle taper for technical riding. ( KDX 200)
Please tell me more!

Re: D - Taper Needle ?
There are lots of threads on CGK/DGK and CEL/DEL needles in the jets and needles section.

D - Taper Needle ?
Not quite magically smooth, it still has a nice strong surge in the mid - top, but the lower half of the throttle range is very linear. If your carb is stock you'll need a DEL or possibly even a DEM at higher elevations, and then re-jet ( you'll need leaner main and pilot). I run my DEK in the 4th clip position. I ran my C taper for years and thought it was good, but the D taper feels like cheating in the rough stuff. Too fun!
And yes, there is lots of reference out there, but you'll also find some unresolved posts on the DEL being too rich just off idle.

Yeah, I go with the DEL 90% of the time, although CEL is fun for a short day.
