Any reason I shouldn't lace up a 2.15 rear rim?

I'm building an extra rear wheel for my '89 so I can have a set of dual sport wheels in addition to my dedicated woods wheels. The stock rear rim is an 18 x 1.85 and the one I have is shot. I do have a really nice rim that came from a KTM that's an 18 x 2.15. Is there any reason that I shouldn't lace this one up and use it? It seems like a very marginal increase in width but I'm not an expert on the relationship between tires and rims.

Is an "other brand" rim going to lace up correctly?
For a spare, I think going 2.15 would be OK, but check tire width on the swingarm.

I'll be sure to post back with my results. I'm not totally sure that the KTM rim is compatible yet. It has the same number of spokes but I haven't compared spoke nipple hole diameter or angles yet. Hopefully I'll tackle that job soon.

IF it has the same diameter and the same number of spoke holes it'll lace up. The biggest hurdle you already mentioned...finding the right size spoke lengths and nipples. Most all bikes use the standard 3 cross pattern, no different lacing a KTM rim than an Excel as long as the diamter and #holes matches.
