Please could someone advise on refurbing the rear shock (sorry if there is thread, I can't find it).
It looks a complex beast and although I am fairly mechanically minded (and competent ☺), I'm worried I'll get half way through and require a special tool not mentioned in the manual. The alternative is to pay around $150 here in the UK for a shop to do it. Any pointers, You Tube threads and part requiremens would be much appreciated.
Thanks

E1 Rear Shock Refurb
Rebuilt mine a year or so ago. Fairly simple and no special tools needed. I followed along with the racetech procedure for the gold valve, here------> http://www.racetech.com/page/id/138

Thanks, great vids.
Grinding off the peening looks scary.
Needs to be done, bump stop has disintegrated.
Thanks again.

Shove some grease down in the hole in the shaft end before you start grinding. Don't just sit there and grind on it for 2 minutes straight. Just take a little bit at a time so that it does not scorch the end of the shaft.
Be prepared to file and thread chase the end of the shaft.
Replace the seal head and other parts while you are at it.

Oh you don't need to remove that or the shim stack if you're just an oil change and nitro recharge....that section of the video is just for installing the gold valve, just skip that part
You can replace bottom-out bumper and seal head without grinding off the peening and removing shim stack
