That will fit your 89 kdx but is not really needed as you have solid mounted handle bars. If you switch to a H series top clamp (95+) with the marshmellow rubber bar mounts then you would want a one piece bar clamp to reduce the twisting of the bars in a crash.

It will fit.
Well..considering the posted info to be correct and the pic to be OF the piece that is for sale. Looks like he just listed the model applications shown on the package.
Doesn't look like it's designed for the odo. One piece top clamps for the KDX commonly come 'with' or 'without' a place to mount the odo. You could MAKE it work with either some trimming of the odo bracket, or some washers/spacers to space the odo bracket away from the hannelbar clamp.
Oh...if it WAS designed to be used with the odo, the right hand side would have a raised boss to accept the formed edge of the odo bracket.
Cheap right now...$11? Too bad it's not a 'buy now' for that price!!
I like marshmallows!! Campfire brand, please. JetPuffs suck. AND they are superior in the prevention of arm pump and general numbness due to excessive vibration from those stupid solid things. Heck, if you're into pain..why have brakes? Just stick your foot in the spokes when you want to slow down/stop.
Form follows function. The function: Being able to actually use your arms to control your bike whilst riding for hours and hours. The form: Isolated bars.
Not that I have a particular opinion about it.............

kdx_quebec, yep it will work, just watch for the tripmeter mount, as canyncarvr mentioned. It won't be designed with a cut out area specifically for it.
canyncarvr, do you use 7/8" bars? On my '94, I have bolts with no cones (solid mount by way of bolts) and 1 1/8" bars. I can't tell the difference between the 7/8" cone mounted bars on the '87 and the 1 1/8" bars as far as vibration and arms getting wore out.

I'm not anti marshallow! Heck I liked them enough to switch my top clamp to get them (and the ability to turn the bar mounts around). They do certainly make a difference in the amount of vibration that is transmitted to the bars. Sure do get wanky when you crash though. Need to get a one piece bar clamp like the above. Odo not a concern either.canyncarvr wrote: I like marshmallows!! Campfire brand, please. JetPuffs suck. Yes. 7/8" bars.Jason wrote: canyncarvr, do you use 7/8" bars? On my '94, I have bolts with no cones (solid mount by way of bolts) and 1 1/8" bars. I can't tell the difference between the 7/8" cone mounted bars on the '87 and the 1 1/8" bars as far as vibration and arms getting wore out.
Can't tell the difference?
Maybe your cones are squished to the point they aren't working right. OR...maybe you have hard cones. I tired some Scotts hi-durometer cones once. Took them out after one ride. They were the same as NO cones.
Maybe you're just speshul?

Thanks for the info on the bar size.
Well, it's not buttery, but that is not the difference I was referring to.
They are not squished, and not hard cones. Thanks for thinking of me as maintaining my '87 improperly, though. :-)
An '87 rattles and vibrates more, so that may be the difference.
Thanks.
