Value of '86?
I have an opportunity to buy a 1986 KDX200 that is supposed to have only 13 hours on it and is in mint condition. Haven't yet seen it "live" yet but it looks great in the photos. I am curious as to what you all think this thing is worth?

Without seeing it, it is hard to guess.
They don't bring much, if you are wanting to flip it onto a collector.

Almost 30 years old, unless it was super cheap I'd pass. That's just my opinion, to me anything 96 and up is what you want.
97-220 with a PC pipe. 2015- RB carb and head mod

Well I went to look at it and there is no way it had any more than 13 hours on it. A Grandmother bought it for an 18-year-old, he rode it for about 13 hours (On pavement, it appears) then parked it and went off to College. After that he began a career and never returned for the bike. It sat in a shed for 29 years. It was amazing just to see such a pristine bike of that age.
The guy that bought it from the Grandmother is asking $1200 for it.

I think that's a more than fair price for any dirt bike that clean/original.

That is a nice bike. I'd love to own one and that thing is clean. Offer him $850 see where he goes. It's a buyer at $1000, but only because it is so clean.
With bikes this old and not really a collector, they don't always sell for very much.

At $1200 that's a great deal IMO. You're getting a virtually new two-stroke, and a great trail-bike at that. Compare that bike to the heavy thumper foo-foo bikes that go for about $4-5K at a dealership. I owned two of those KDX's back in the day, and have restored one that I ride now - the lower seat height, low weight means they can go anywhere with decent two-stroke power.
New tires, change the oil, clean the tank and carb, get a new air filter (the foam breaks down), lube the chain and cables and go ride.
