leaky fork dilemma

Ive having a leaky fork dilemma on sons 95 200....replaced seals 3 times in last 6 months. Thought it was because bushes were too far worn so replaced those this last time. 2 HS later forks are leaking badly again. Something must be worn severly or bent? Alignment is good, oil level good. Im done with these forks...npt really in market for kx fork swap...kids going to be moving to a 250 soon. However, if i can get a good deal on some kdx forks i can swap in would be great. So....anybody have any lying around?

Strange. Are there any visible scratches or burrs on the uppers? If there's something serious enough to keep damaging the seals I would think you'd be able to see or at least feel it. Polishing the tubes should help. I think I still have a set of blue 94 USD forks in good shape if you're interested in going that route.

I have a set of conventionals from an '89 for cheap if you're interested. The only downside is that shipping would probably be kind of expensive. I'm not sure how easy they'd swap onto an H, either. Might be very simple, I just don't know off the top of my head.

I would think that taking the forks to LT Racing in Port Orchard would be your best bet. Les can tell you what is going on with those.
JMO, the way that he is hitting jumps with those, he's blowing the seals out. Probably from the spring rate or valving being to soft for jumping it like that. When I bought my son's 220, the PO had a seal leaking problem as well, I attributed it to the PO jumping it on his track all the time while still having stock springs in there.

thanks for the input. it is sprung for his weight, i dont think hes out riding the suspension? Possible though. I have 0 experience with valving so i cant speak on that.

Have you closely examined the damaged seals? Are they ripped or anything?

You go ride it for a while to rule him out of the equation. :grin:

No, i havent inspected them too closely....the tubes are absolutely pristene, have fork skin to keep garb out too. One thing i did notice when changing them is....i dont need a driver to seat seals at all. can basically seat them with fingertips. Iv never had seals this easy to seat. Maybe , this is where rhe problem resides?

What order are you putting in the parts, and what parts are you installing?

Big bush, little bush, washer, seal, clip n cover. Fill with fluid, work the fork up n down. Damper rod up n down. Fill up. Set height at 85mm.
