hmmm oil in there????

hmmm oil in there????
Was just going over my 1990 kdx 200 and removed the magneto side cover to find a bit of oil in the bottom. The oil looked blueish. Kinda looked like 2 stroke oil???? Anyone have that before?

Crank seal would be the only way that could get in there

check your stator plug before you tear into the crank case... it isn't hard for fuel to follow the stator output wires down into there if the carb or petcock are leaking.stomlinson wrote:Was just going over my 1990 kdx 200 and removed the magneto side cover to find a bit of oil in the bottom. yup, seals aren't the only way oil can get in there - I had oil pooling in there due to a leak in my casting.

also check the casting the crank bearing seats are molded in. They are known to have hair line cracks. You will see 3 grooves around the seal just mix up some JB weld and fill the groves.
