Ring end gap

Post by Corey »

Hey folks,
Could somebody tell me what the piston ring end gap min. and max measurements are? I have a '96 KDX200H and my Cyclepedia manual doesn't state it. Nice manual...sheesh . Did a search and couldn't find a post for a '96. Wiseco piston/rings, stock bore size (66mm). Thank you.

Thank you very much. I'll write that in my owner's manual that is in paper form. Got the online service manual from Cyclepedia. Can't believe they don't have that in it.

If you are using a Wiseco you need to follow their specs. The manual has cast piston specs.

Thanks for that reply Tedh98. Wiseco says that there should be a minimum gap of .004" per 1" of bore size. So if I converted 66mm to inches it works out to be 2.598". Now multplying 2.598 x .004 it works out to be .0103" minimum of gap. I checked it with the feeler gauge and I'm getting a .011" gap. So I should be good.
