Friction plates - do these look toast?

Do these friction plates need to be replaced? The clutch doesn't slip, but these look like they're nearing the end of their useful life

This has been covered but I can't remember what causes the marks on the bottom of the clutch basket?

Bonus: found out why neutral was so hard to find. This could have wreaked some serious havoc :blink:

Only way to tell on the plates is put a micrometer on them and see if they are within spec. The marks on the bottom of the basket are most likely from the casting/machining process, not from dragging on anything in the motor (they go the wrong direction). Good catch on your return spring, that could have made a mess of things rolling around in there.
