Opines are like...what? ...and everyone has one.
But...sorry, freak.
1. Respect your elders.
2. Know your place.
3. Know the facts.
Your 220 is no match for Inda's 200. Don't take it personally. The bikes are just plain different is all..and that difference matters.
Uh....please don't embarrass yourself by noting you have neat old stuff!! Yes, I remember the whole thread about this-n-that regarding reeds.
Back to the thread.........
DD...the two bikes are different. It's not that one is gooder and the other is badder, unless you are talking about a specific application.
If you're never over 3rd/4th gear where you ride and are not interested in the higher-end scream of things...the 220 may be the correct choice.
If you like the higher-end scream of things and think the 'classic' hit of a 2-smoke is fun..the 200 may be the correct choice.
You can make the 200 run like the 220 a whole lot easier than you can make the 220 run like the 200.
Do consider the piston issue of the 220. While some have ridden forever and poo-poo the whole idea of there even BEING a problem..they are deceiving themselves by limiting their thought to their own experience. There are a good number of instances where 220s have grenaded themselves into junk in very short order. Ignore the facts if you like.
The $600 difference you indicate will go a long ways toward where you will likely end up sooner or later...carb brass, fork springs, a pipe, a silencer, a few air filters, handlebars, top clamp, intake system, and modified carb.
There's yur $600...easy. Uh...REAL easy.
CM said about $1000? Don't miss the + part of that!
The KDX is a very capable woods bike. If you really want an MX'er...buy one'a those.

It IS 95% rider and 5% bike. Well...put in whatever numbers you want.
I've ridden with enough guys on 'little' bikes that easily let me full well realize that size don't matter.
I've seen kids grow up from 65s to 125s to 250s..and they're just plain spankers, no matter WHAT they're on.
I've seen 'old' guys on 125s that commonly ride places you would swear a mountain goat couldn't handle.
I've ridden with 'old' guys on oem YZ250s that go everywhere without a second thought...no pipe, no nothing.
I've ridden with 'old' BIG guys on CR500s and XR650s that could have a bumper sticker: 'Don't follow me. You won't make it.' ..and that would be the truth.
Nothing wrong with riding what you like...and liking what you ride. A rider that is better than you will beat yur fanny on pretty much anything. Maybe not top speed, but anything else.
Have FUN 'fer crine out loud. That's the point....ain't it?
