Current KDX prices

Post by lumarkhood »

I am looking at buying a clean KDX. Focusing on '01-'06 years, with no real preference between 200/220.

What do you guys think is a fair price for:

Clean, well-maintained Stock 200/220
Clean, well-maintained modded 200/200

I've been searching and have located 3-4 candidates with a pretty big price variance. Would appreciate some feedback from the experts! :supz:

Price varies by region and condition.

Post up some links and we can at least say one is better than the other, or point out something you may not have known to be an improvement / worse.

+1

there are always things that you overlook (or plain don't know how to look for) that we can spot pretty easy

FWIW I have had a set of matching 96 200/220 for sale for almost a year for 1500 each and i haven't been able to sell one yet

The first two are asking too much.

The third one makes me wonder why only $1,500 at a dealer.

The last one makes me want to pick up the phone.

The 2nd one is a joke right? He threw a few bucks in Chinese E-Bay parts on a not so "low hour bike" and wants $3300 :vom:

I'd check the one at the dealer out. They might have been sitting on it too long, doesn't seem to bad from the pictures.

And I just bought the last one!

Just kidding, the last two are priced right for a KDX. Go with the one in the best condition. When you go to look at them, feel the motor, if it has been warmed up...walk away!

I agree with everyone here
the 4th one seems to be the one I would look into
the dealer on looks off to me, wrong forkboots, weird side panel, seat looks (poorly) re-upholstered

one more thing to keep in mind, the stock piston on the 220 tends to wear out prematurely so unless the seller has proof (and a wiseco sticker on the rear fender does not count) that the piston has been replaced you should do it before you do anything else

the 200 does not have this issue

Agree I wouldn't discount the dealer bike. I bought my son's 2005 200 from a dealer for $1,500. Nothin wrong with it and they even sent me (free) a new Petcock when I noticed the current one was leaking. They likely made their money on the new bike they sold the guy trading it in plus i bet they credited him $1,000 or less.

It looks bone stock to me, except the missing stand. The picture has some odd shadows going on in it. That's why the seat and spring look funny.

Looks fine to me. It doesn't kick up that much when the bike if off the stand. Just compare pic 2 and see how much the rear pops up, but off the stand that will drop a bit under the bikes weight.

I still find that hard to believe. Its been like a year! I know of one that he absolutely did not take care of was sold for 1600 within 2 days. It was missing bolts, front brake needed bled, little to no graphics, only thing done maintenance wise was change oil and fix stuff when it broke.

In Minnesota, I picked up a 2000 200 that looks like it was only ridden around the block for $1500. Completely stock with kick stand and tool kit.
