Sealing exhaust.

Post by bone7615 »

What should I use to seal my exhaust where it hooks up from the engine to the header?
If you had a choice to date supermodels for the rest of your life or ride dirt bikes, would you choose a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke?

I smear some high temp RTV around the o-rings and then install it. Then let it set-up overnight.

That's the method that I use, too. It makes it less convenient to remove and replace the pipe for maintenance but it's not really a big deal and it's better than having oily spooge all over the front of your engine. Make sure you get the super-high temp kind of RTV. It's usually red or orange.

That stuff is the best for exhausts, I have it on all my motorcycles even my truck. Set time is crucial so follow directions, it lasts much longer that way.
