So im doing a top end rebuild on my 2002 kdx 200 with a prox piston and gasket kit. I know i should put the head gasket dry but i was wondering about the others.
specifically for the kips covers and carb boot gaskets.
I have heard of people using grease or some kind of sealant...while others prefer dry. What do u guys recommend?
I just dont want the carb boot gasket to leak.

Clean and dry. Sealant is a no no. Gas eats sealant(silicone) and you will end up with a vacuum leak. Grease will make the gasket slide and not compress as it should to do its job. Clean and Dry is the way to go just like the factory.

Putting gaskets on dry??
I agree with clean and dry to the point I would wipe the metal surface with thinners then wipe the thinners residue off and never ever had a leek. Did have many gaskets leaving parts on both services on disassembly though.
For this bike only I am experimenting with grease for the minor paper gaskets like side cover.
JUST experimenting to see if I can reuse them. It's no big deal if they leek/weep and then I will know.
So far so good on first put together.

I like to use that spray copper adhesive on one surface only. It keeps the gasket in place during assembly.
In most cases dry would be fine also.
The best method I have found for old gasket removal is some aircraft paint remover. I spray a bit in a little container and paint it on - the old gasket just bubbles off
