kickstarter swap

Post by kdxquebec »

Hi. I have 2 89-94 kickstarters. 1 is dead and the other is almost dead.

Do you think this model will fit the shaft splines?

I'd look for one for your model instead of buying a door stop.

My older one is worn. The pivot is really grooved. The snap ring always pop-off.

The newer begins to wear slowly so I will need a new one soon,I think.

I was looking for a cheap solution.A new one from kawasaki is very expensive like kdx220phil told us. Maybe I will buy a fredette lever.(I have a brand new knurckle sitting in the shed)
But when I buy from USA compagnies the canadian costums fee is too much!!

ex: for a 30$ us part they will ask like 15$ in taxes custums brokage fees!!!

I can avoid the fee if the part is shipped as a personal gift from man to man .

Hey Indawoods I like your humor!!! HAhahaha

Hey QC.
You can always find an aftermarket part in Canada. Amost every dealer I know has full access to aftermarket lines. And there will be a "doorstop" that works perfectly.
More importantly, Fredette parts are almost certainly manufactured in the USA. If it says made in the USA, then there is no duty. Yeay Free Trade!!!

I know the post office charge a huge service fee ($5) to collect the GST and the PST so use a courier like UPS or Fedex. But there is no way around it - we have to pay more for part made in the USA or Japan or Korea.

Bikes are money pits. Keep reiminding yourself that you could sell it and then it wouldn't matter how much it costs to repair it.

Tedd

IF! the knuckle fit, my concern would be the length of the part where one places his foot. I would be worried that when folded up, it would hit the exhaust pipe.

If you did get that one, at least it would be from Canada to Canada. Those taxes are dumb. Well, then again, someone has to pay for all that helath care.

Kanuck.

It is not the same here. The custums fee for Ups or fedex is more expensive than the post office.

Any part I receive from USA is taxed. Made in USA or not.

Do not forget ...Quebec is located in the America armpits!!! :butthead:

Btw the local dealers here do not know what is FRP offroad!

Quebec is not a good place to live.

We pay 16% in taxes when we buy someting at the store.

And I give 40% of my salary to the government.

Do you mean that if you buy something that has a sticker price Canadian $1, you end up paying Candian $1.16?!

You should get sick at least once per year to help compensate.

You can stay in the guest room, and if you will help me scoot all the bike parts over, there is room for your bike. Since your bike is already apart, you will fit right in.

I thought KDXQC was francophone but maybe not. He spells like francophone. (I lived my first 16 years in Pointe Claire, which is Montreal to everyone but KDXQC.) Are you mauvais anglais "et la vote ethnique"?

In Alberta, we have the lowest income tax rate, only 7% sales tax (GST), and it's the best place to live. And as Jason knows, we have government mandated health care insurance in Canada and truly, it is worth it. We still pick our doctor and generally get the care we need when we need it.

So bring your bike. I can get you a good job the same day - there are far more jobs here than there are workers. The riding is as good as anywhere.

Now hows this for a hijack?
