Just bought a 98 kdx220r, bike ran great past 2 days I rode it after I finally got it to idle right. But today, it bogged while giving throttle and have a really high idle then go down once it warms up but starts to get really high again and would not hit the powerband.. Need help. Thanks.

I just replied to your intro post. With this description, it sounds like a jetting issue (either dirty or wrong). But before you do any carb work, repack the silencer, check the Kips function and look to see whether you have the stock piston or not.
If you have the stock piston, replace it right away.

Mine was bogging big time as well when I got it, float level was way off and the needle valve was sticking. Revving out for no apparent reason could be a air leak, spray wd-40 around the reed block and that will tell ya. I tempted fate and rode mine for 2 years before I swapped the piston. Get the manual, it's a life saver.

You can't repack the stock silencer. Use a torch and burn the crap out of it. The one good & bad thing about stock pipes, No need to repack them, but you can't open them to clean either.

That is not the pipie that would be on a '99. The stock silencer is all welded. I guess it could be cut and rewelded.

I tried cleaning one by burning it out with a propane torch. It didn't seem to do much

I wonder if it could be put in a ceramics kiln?
