Hi Guys,

I am hoping that someone can assist me.
Yesterday i went to go buy new plastics for my bike and they are now sold out and will not get stock any more. My 1st question is, can i use front and rear fenders from any other model KX or KDX? Has anyone had experience with this?

2nd questions ( i know only one per topic :p )
If i cant use plastics from any other bike or model, what you guys think about me attempting to spray my current ones? Has anyone sprayed their plastics before and have any advice?

I could get plastics from ebay, my only problem is that it will cost more then my bike. Shipping something to south africa will cost a arm and a leg.

On the front fender, you should be able to use a KX front fender.

Look for UFO or Acerbis from Italy.

I'd recommend against spray paint, as it will wear/age poorly.

I've also got a KDX250-D project going, and the plastic solution I used was long but worthwhile.

• Degrease and strip all graphics present
• razor blade scrape to get through oxidized layer
• wet-sand with 250-grit until the chalky surface is pretty much gone
• wet-sand with 400, then 600-grit to smooth things out
• go over with a heat gun to draw oils from the plastic back up to the surface

I'll be posting some before/after pics here in the next few weeks. I'll say right now that I'm very pleased with the result. I'm following that up with a set of graphics from Senge in the US, then something similar to Armor-All or a "tire-wet" to keep oils in the very surface layer during sun exposure.
