I actually meant the 'original' bike in a box boy, Jason.
You've only got ONE in a box.

I love taking my bike apart. Unfortunately, it is the putting it back together that is the hard part.
Wait a minute. Permit? Like, YOU, out on the public road with others??

well i was acutally gonna get a road bike but my dads wants me to get a car first... i dont know why
. then he said we will talk about it. I would like to use the xl in town but not often. I will be using it for light trail riding with my freinds and i was gonna use it in the winter. i was gonna save my kdx for racing and fast pace trail riding. The xl only has 1500 miles on it which is very low for a 87.

My bad. For $400, if it cranks and runs, then you should have already bought it. Sell some of your dad's stuff and get on with it.
KDX220Phil, they went from old Honda Red and orange to red, white and blue in 1986. I thought 1987 was that color, also. I can't remember what color they were after that. I remember a Dirt Bike 1986 test of the Honda XR200R, and I thought it looked nice. I am glad I got a KDX200, though!!

I had an XR200R as well, 84 or 85, dual carbs, weighed a ton, it sucked as well but was alright for me when i was 13. I would have traded it for a KX80 instantly.
Yeah I love my KDX too, this summer has been a lot of fun, too bad the season is almost over for us Nova Scotian's though, I reckon' my bike will be totally different come spring and it may even have an older half-brother too
.

That's cool to know.
I THINK 1986 is when they ditched the "XR200 = play bike and XR200R is competitive bike" idea. They went with "just" an XR200(R) (whichever one it was). Whatever the name was, I am glad I got an '87 KDX200 instead of a Honda XR200(R).
Good luck on your KX shopping!

Thanks Jason, I hope it doesn't take me too long, but I am a little stubborn and always wanting to find a good deal, not just something that is "worth it". Aren't we all?
For example, My KDX, brand new I payed $5000.00 CDN (MSRP 5799 yet dealers were listing for 5999.) and my dealer gave me a new CLX-4 helmet. I played every dealer in the maritimes against each other until I found the cheapest one
. I found this place that was a new dealership and had not built their show room yet, they wanted to sell as many bikes as possible to get their name out, and higher sales= better show room, even if it mean making only $10.
I lucked in for sure, I have told you guys before though, this place was one of the convincing factors, so much good info and you guys described the KDX as the bike I was looking for, the other place had little/no effect.
Watch out, these guys will brain wash ya
. I even dream green now.
