coolant change procedure
Hi there.changed the coolant in my 98 today.drained it from water pump.emptied resivour bottle.....filled radiator slowly.filled resivor bottle to full mark.ran bike with cap off .the manual says to bleed air on top of cylinder. Is this neccisary.if so do with engine off...thanks

Yes it's necissary to bleed air from the screw, air pockets can cause pretty gnarly damage. Do so with engine off, and you want a solid stream, no bubbles. Be quick with the screw as it's not a long process haha and makes a mess

Also make sure the rad cap is removed when you crack the bleeder obviously if the cap is left on it will create a vacuum and it won't work...
I usually bleed the air after every ride, there always seems to be some air introduced after a long ride

Mines usually upside down a lot as well.thanks for the info.can engine be cold or should it be warm like shortly after its been running? Thanks

Engine warm is best. I've even done mine with the engine idling as per the FSM and no issues.
