Can anyone recommend a dot tire for me? Looking for one for hard pack gravel , clay and rocks. Needs to be dot due to street reg. Will be for my stock 05 KDX220. Thanks

I run Michelin AC10 on the rear & Michelin comp 4 on the front or the new comp 5 is just as good....other good hard wearing road legal rear tyres are Maxxis IT or Mitas co2.

I just bought michelin t63s, nice knobbies for offroad and DOT.

Thanks guys. Been looking at the Mich's. My KLX came with Dunlop 605's. Good looking tire but hard to find (online anyways). 606's are the closest ,but not the best lasting. Have read good reviews on the Kenda 270's and they are a great price ,but IMHO tread just looks too tight for the power of the 220.

For real off road I found the Kenda 760 is about the best DOT rear, street life isn't so great though. Many guys claim thousands and thousands of miles on the street, I saw MUCH less. For the front I ran a Southwick 2. Definitely not a street tire at all, but DOT approved.

I've seen the Kenda 270 perform amazingly under a KTM with a tubeliss setup, they guy said at 5-6 psi they come alive by enveloping objects like a trials tire. Shinko 244 is nearly the same tire, but with larger side knobs that offer better cornering on pavement.

Shinkos are soft as hell though, had them on my ninja250 and wear like crazy.

You had 244's on a Ninja? Not all their tires are the same compound.

I am tempted to try the 270's or 244's for the fact I can put on a pair for around $100. I just hate changing them if they suck.

Lol no, one of there streetbike tires. But shinko is just an all around cheaper brand, they grip alright compared to the dunlops i had but cant even begin to compare with how long the dunlops last.

+1 Just had to double check, run the same tire and they are D.O.T approved. Beefy chunky tire and the price is unbeatable($57.62 CAD per tire)

I ran a Trackmaster II on the front for the last year or so and just switched to the Parker Desert this summer when I went tubliss. The Trackmaster II gets complaints from the KLX crowd (and perhaps others) as a front tire for being squirrely. I'm enjoying the Parker Desert up front so far. A bit more stable than the TMII.
