Water pump seal?

Post by superman27e »

I noticed that I losing coolant pretty fast. I put some in the radiator yesterday, went to go riding today to noticed the radiator wasn't getting warm. I checked the coolant level, and it was way too low. Checked my clutch oil, and it was a very light grey color. I just put the oil in a few days ago, so it should still be the same color.

I know it's not the head gasket, because I just replaced that a few weeks ago. So, I've been looking, but I can't find a water pump seal anywhere. Anyone care to point me in the right direction? It's a 1999 KDX 200.

Thanks, buddy!

Took a picture of my "oil."

Also, does anyone have any idea why oil keeps settling right here? Crank seal? I just cleaned it a week ago, and this always happens. If you'll notice, there area below that is fine, just that one area gets oil on it.

Counter shaft sprocket seal. Just did mine a few weeks ago

May just be chain oil, though

Water pump seal?

It might be the counter shaft seal leaking. Also, I would get a case saver on it, one thrown chain and you might have a destroyed case.

Wouldn't I need the 92050 for the oil seal? Or is the counter shaft sproket seal and oil seal different? I've confused myself now. :p

.....The countershaft seal(92050-033[reference #92050]) goes behind the front sprocket

The waterpump seal(92049-1259[reference #92049B]) that is causing your watery oil going behind the waterpump impeller.

Yea, I just got confused on the part numbers. You gave me a link with the part number 92049 as the oil seal (counter shaft sprocket seal.) But I saw on bikebandit that their OEM part number is 92050. The 92050 is around $8 and the 92049 that you posted is only $1.xx. So, my question is, are they the same part?

Care to quote me there? 92049 is the reference number for the water pump seal from my first post

92050 is the reference number for the counter sprocket seal from my third post..

Ohh, I see where I got confused. In your first post, you mentioned the oil seal (92049) and some how I thought I had already mentioned the counter shaft sprocket seal in my original post, so I thought that was what you were giving a part number for.

5+ years on the hybrid without a coolant tank and I have never had a problem. Most hybrid builds dont use the tank either.

I wouldnt spend a lot on putting one back unless it really bothers you.

Yeah I usually refer to it as the waterpump seal, but they never distinctively give all oil seals different names(water pump seal, clutch actuator shaft seal, shifter seal, counter shaft seeal, etc) They're all just called "Oil seal"

We'll see what happens. I'm gonna be replacing everything from bearings to plastics next month, so it's pretty much gonna be a brand new bike. Pretty excited about it!
