Cylinder prep

Post by jjavaman »

Hi folks, so just what has to be done to the cylinder to prepare for a new piston/rings? There is a lot of conflicting advice I'm seeing so what have you personally done to your cylinder to get it ready? I was planning on scotch brite pads to give it a good cleaning then the old soap and hot water wash and away I go. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If the plating is not worn out then that sounds good to me.

Thanks Jason for your input, the plating looks good as far as I can tell. Time to do some scrubbing!
