Sorry for all the threads fellas....but, I just realized that the bearing kit I just got didn't come with an upper shock bearing.
So I went ahead and had one ordered overnight. I then started the fight of getting the old bearing/sleeve out.
After heating and beating and vising, there's no bearing in the OEM upper shock mount. Correct? Was the rubber bushing and cylinder supposed to come out? lol. It's out now.
No bearing in upper shock?

Correct, no bearing..
You can just press the bushing assembly back in.

The metal sleeve is in tact, but the rubber bushing is gone.sarrant wrote:Correct, no bearing..

Apparently they sell this upper shock bearing kit now though. I wonder if the kit I ordered will come with a new sleeve.
I just thought the bearing was seized. It looked like any other bearing assembly from the outside.

The metal sleeve and rubber bushing are all part of one assembly (KAW 92092-1062, rubber bushing assy)

I looked at a few microfiche from some sites and it's not listed??? -sarrant wrote:The metal sleeve and rubber bushing are all part of one assembly (KAW 92092-1062, rubber bushing assy)
We'll see what's up tomorrow when I get the all balls upper shock mount bearing kit. I can only imagine that the all balls bearing is an upgrade over.

Let us know if you get an actual bearing or just a rubber bushing.

Re: No bearing in upper shock?
Well damn, after triple checking again with rockymountain, apparently I ordered another lower shock bearing and the upper is in fact not available.

Re: No bearing in upper shock?
I ordered, again, an upper/lower shock kit. The upper will be a single assembly - sleeve, rubber bushing, cylinder. Should be here late tomorrow.
I found the same kit on ebay at 1/2 the price but I really need it tomorrow, or Saturday at the latest.

Well, got the upper shock bushing this morning. I highly recommend never removing that bushing, ever. Just buy a new OEM shock or an Ohlins. lol.
rockymountain is pretty awesome. Ordered that bushing at 6 pm eastern yesterday, and had it at 10:00 am this morning. Same with the new FMF silencer, ordered at 3 yesterday, here at 10am.
Prices are hard to beat too.
Even though their HQ's are in Utah, they ship a lot out of their KY warehouse.
