2005 KX 250 Compatible parts

Post by NewKDX »

Hello I am thinking about buying parts off a guy who has a 2005 KX 250, the bike I have is a 2005 KDX 200. What parts on the KX 250 can be put on the KDX 200. What I am mainly looking at is the Triple Tree and the forks. Can I run stock KDX 200 Triple Tree with KX 250 Forks? Also If I decided to purchase KX 250 triple tree and forks do they work good on the KDX?

You cannot run KX forks with the KDX triple tree. The KX forks have a much larger diameter and will only work with a KX triple tree. The KX triple tree and forks will work after you press the KX stem out and a KDX stem into the KX triple tree (along with other "possible" machine work and/or a Ron Black bushing). The forks can work good on the KDX depending on what you are wanting out of them and how much you put into them.

I don't think much, if anything, else will swap over to the KDX. I know they are the same year but the KDX was unchanged from 1995 - 2006 except for colors and graphics. I would just buy the 250 and keep two separate but complete bikes. Never bad to have a spare if you can afford it.

Unless you are a very fast rider, any MX forks you get will need to be revalved for off-road (and possible new springs for your weight). If you really want non-KDX forks, then I think you should focus on getting the best condition/most complete front end for the best price.
