Shift shaft replacement

Post by PWELLS »

I have a 2005 kdx200 that needs the shaft replaced. What can I use to hold the flywheel while I remove the clutch basket? Thanks in advance.

This is how I usually do it, any type of aluminum, copper or soft metal between the gears. You can also lockup the rear tire with the bike in 5th or 6th gear.

I do it like Ted; I use a piece of 1/4" copper tubing with the end crushed to fit like Ted's picture.
