Back to the 220.

Since I was a good boy this year Santa got me a new Top end. Although my KDX was a barn find and has little time it is a 220 so we all know the factory piston has to go.

Will post pic's what I find.

My son got a top end for his 220 [barn find] also! And tires, I'm soooo over tired of buying and installing tires!

Know what you mean.... I got to get DOT tires and trying to figure what ones will be best so I don't have to change them anytime soon.

Got the top end off. Piston looks good. No cracks. You wouldn't think it would have problems with the thick skirts it has. It will be Forged now!

I know how you feel about the piston. My son's also looked really good, but after seeing what happens when the skirt finally gives way, and I'm not saying that it WILL give way. There is no way that I would run the stocker in a bike that I depend on to get me "home". If it makes you feel better, it sure does look like there was some blow-by from the rings.

I know these pistons can break early but I figured I wasn't going to see any issue with it as this 220 still has the original chain, sprockets and tires on it.
