Kick Stand Spring

Post by morganid »

One of the first rides with my KDX I lost the spring to my kick stand. Fortunately I didn't catch it on anything. I used a piece of wire the previous owner had on the handle bars to tie the stand up out of the way until we got back to the truck. (I almost removed the wire and threw it away a couple of times. I leave it on the handle bars now.) I haven't put the stand back on because once when climbing a hill I got my foot stuck under it trying to turn around. I'm not a fan of the stand placement. But I think I want it now since I'm making it street legal and they don't have MX stands at the supermarket for you to use at your convenience.

WHERE IN THE WORLD CAN I GET ANOTHER SPRING?

I struck out at Home Depot, Lows, and the local MX shop. Any other ideas?

Thanks.

What year KDX?

Should be able to get a new OEM spring from a Kawa dealer.

Sorry. It's a 2003 KDX 220. I checked at a Kawasaki dealer today. He said the only spring he had was off a CR kick stand, but wouldn't sell me just the spring. He said he didn't have anything else. Maybe he was only talking about what he had in stock? If I knew the specs on it, I may be able to find a similar spring on line.

$8.52 from rocky mountain. Your dealer blows, and should be fired.
