93-94 Front fork guards

Post by Bitteeinit »

Are the 93-94 plastic front fork guards universal? If not, what are some compatible front fork guards? Would I need to modify a different pair of fork guards?
I ask because one of my mechanics managed to lose them... *facepalm* All that mud can't be good for the seals, and the risk of the shocks getting knocked against a rock of tree trunk is always a possibility...

Any input appreciated.

I've read that KLX guards bolt on.
Don't know if that is true.

93-94 Front fork guards

I have an 06 KLX250 and us KLX riders often use UFO KX fork guards as replacements. Our stock KLX fork guards are brittle and expensive. The KX units are inexpensive and made of stronger plastic, like fender material. Here are a couple links from the KLX forum so you can see how they mount.

I could look at the KLX and KDX tonight to see how similar the mounting could be if you'd like.

2006 KLX 250 w/351 big bore. A well-sorted dual sporter.
2006 KLR 650. Mostly stock.
2014 Suzuki DL1000.

Well, I can say from those pictures, that the klx mounting/hose routing looks a lot like my 94.

The cracked stock guard looks the same, too.

I have fork guards from a klx on my 93. They fit well with a bit of trimming. Ktm wrap around style guards are also fairly close, but a spacer has to be made.
