how do i add a battery?

Post by burnie43 »

Hi guys
Just had my first blast on the KDX200 89 that I got, love it....
I was thinking of making it road legal in the UK so I'd like to add a 12v battery for indicators, brake lights, horn etc but I don't know where to start...can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to look to get an understanding of what I need to do...
Cheers

Easiest way is to order the Tusk kit from Rockymountainatv.com It will come with everything that you need except the headlight, but you can turn yours into a dual filament w/o major issues.

+1 on the tusk kit I have one installed with rectifier and battery and it works great. Paid $60 for the kit (bargain at ebay) and about $15 for the rectifier and the lead seal battery at radio shack. Here is the tread: http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopi ... 77&t=16580

how do i add a battery?

Post by dude541 »

I just used a trail tech reg/rec, small battery pack, and made my own wiring loom, I also have a 80w lighting stator, I have led rear side/brake lights(works of both brakes using hydraulic switches) led indicators, led front sidelights, and a halogen 55/60w H4 as the main and high, works superbly!
best regards
John

lol,
take a look here http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopi ... 77&t=14204
should throw some more info on how to get a good lighting system and battery that charges, the battery I used fits nicely in the air box.

wheels I purchased from a guy who was doing a klx project, but never used them, brand new talon hubs/excel rims.
best regards
John
