kdx 125 revving to the moon on cold start help

ok so i have a 91 kdx 125 when i start the bike from cold it revs almost to the limiter apart from it being bad for the rings and barrel its super annoying the bike only does it from cold for around 20 seconds then idles properly when its running if i keep putting choke on and off it seems to idle quicker any ideas what could be causing this any help appreciated
