Yup, seemed to be sealed up tight.s10gto wrote:Did you try the air test? It is possible the fuel is finding its way around the needles seat housing.

That's strange. Should work. Make sure the bowl is not rubbing the float. I have had to bend them a bit in the past.

Hi All,
A follow-up on the resolution to this problem. Ultimately it came down to 2 things.
1. The float pin seat in the carb needed a good cleaning with rubbing compound on a q-tip to stop the carb from overflowing. I cleaned what appeared to be already clean, and sure enough the carb stopped overflowing.
2. The jetting was too far out of stock spec to run that well. I returned to stock 145 / 42 and the bike ran much better.
Inevitably however, after trying my KDX200 carb in the 220 and feeling the difference the slightly larger venturi had on the bike, I decided to swap carbs once the problems were resolved. So now the 220 has the 200 carb and vice versa and overall, everything is running great; in fact the 220 with the 200 carb... Whoa Nellie.... Can't keep the front end down...
Many thanks to those who helped,
Cheers,
SD

Thanks for the resolution!
Glad it's running great.
Get both those carbs to RB and see how you like it.
