Exactly what it is. All 220s are A models (the only 220s Kawi made). For the 200s you have A-H models (though not all were available in the states). The most popular ones are the E-series (1989-1994), and the H-series (1995-2007). So, for example, a 1999 KDX220R (the R means absolutely nothing...marketing) would be a KDX220-A6, and a 1999 KDX200 would be a KDX200-H5. I see it coming..."Why would the first year of the 220 in 1997 be an A4 model?" Because that's the first year we got them here in the states, but overseas there are earlier versions.

It is a series within the model type.

In the USA:

KDX200-A means 1983 - 1985
KDX200-C is 1986 - 1988
KDX200-E is 1989 - 1994
KDX200-H is 1995 - 2006

It is like a Ford F-150:

1997 - 2003 is one style
2004 - 2008 is the next style
2009 - whenever is the next style

They are all F-150's, but different year ranges and styles.

well with a kdx you can hang four hundred pounds on the ignition switch and it wont fail or set off air bags.....same thing on a ford f150. Surprisingly all years kdx and f150 and rangers are damn near bullet proof. That's why you see so many on the road still.

Now if he said it was like a Silverado.......Id say just scrap it rofl. In the long run it will save you a lot of money and time better well spent on something else.
If you cant fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.
