What size Screw / Bolt '03 rear fender?
Pretty sure the rear fender on my 220 is after market and it has 2 brass threads underneath behind the tail light for mounting something. I want to rig a license plate mount and attach to these bungs. The threads seem to be some crazy configuration and I cannot find any bolts/screws that will work. I have tried M6 x 1.00 and 1/4 20 and 1/4 28. The M6 and 1/4 bolts are the right size but the threads will not work. Any ideas??
Thanks!
Thanks!

take the whole damn fender to the local hardware store and find one that fits. to my knowledge, there is nothing brass on a factory bike, so nobody here will know.

I have those same mounts, so I'd assume stock fender. I just put a standard body bolt up into mine (same as shroud bolts). I had an extended licence plate mount on my bike.....Plate didn't last long and I ended up re-upping my tabs 3 months early so I could get a new plate. I ended up bolting my plate to the fender, just below the tail light and it has very little overhang or exposed edges. If you mount something to those holes and it gets hit by your rear tire, it's very likely that you will punch that tail light right off of the fender, essentially ruining your fender.

OH, and because our bikes where made in a street legal version (in other parts of the world), there is probably a stock fender extension that bolts up right there.

My plan is the same as yours, to mount a license plate bracket to those tapped bosses. Mine is tapped M6 X 1. Since those bosses are brass, there will be a little corrosion build-up that will prevent M6 X 1 bolts from screwing in easily. I would suggest you get yourself an M6 X 1 tap and run it into those holes to clean out the corrosion.
Good luck

Pumpguy, you are da man!! Picked up a metric tap and die set on sale at Harbor Freight for $14.95 and I am in Bidness! It is indeed an M6 x 1.0 and smooth as silk now.
