Do I need to replace it? The only part that is broken is the end piece that has goes into the carb. It has a thread on with a bit you screw with your fingers. The thread is snapped in two pieces but the throttle is working fine?
I only noticed it today when I lifted the tank. The cable is fine is just the threaded bit

Re: broken throttle cable
A new tusk cable is about $10 is better to replace the cable instead of messing with the already broken one.

broken throttle cable
I'm trying to follow you...is it the cable that's broke, or does it have a set screw on the carb linkage that holds the cable in that's stripped/broke? My KDX is certainly not like that. What year bike are you working on?

Re: broken throttle cable
I would not chance a cable thats broken in any way. If that sticks or gets hung up you are in big trouble. Not worth a chance of a $20 cable costing a couple grand in the ER.

Re: broken throttle cable
Are you sure the cable end is broken?
What usually breaks off is the end of the curved tube that comes out of the carburator cap. There is a little clip that holds the end of the cable in.
It is unfortunate when that breaks. The only solution I found was replacing the cap that screws onto the carb, ~$40.
It often gets broken when rotating the carb around to change jets.
If you leave it like that it will fray the cable.

Is the threaded part that's broken. There is a adjusted that you can twist with your fingers and then a nut. Its the thread that has broken in two pieces.

Ok, is the tubing that goes over the carb cap. Look for it at eBay or Sudco should be a Keihin 33 or 35 PWK.
