Can you just look in the service manual for the stock thickness, or is it different thicknesses in different areas that you are wondering about?

DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!!
Of course, thanks Jason. I don't know why I didn't check there first.
Front
2.85 - 3.15mm
Service limit
2.5mm
Rear
4.35 - 4.65mm
Service limit
3.8mm
Well I can get 4mm or 6mm plate. My guess is 6mm may be too thick. I will try it with 4mm.
The standard rotor runout should be 0.2mm or LESS, service limit is 0.3 so like CC said I doubt the runout is what retracts the pads.
This info relates to a H model. Thanks Jas...

Cheers big fella, you rock !!!
I will keep everyone updated as the project rolls on. I won't be able to do it just yet as the RB head and carb have dented my wallet but it won't be far away.
Also considering the service limit on the rear rotor is 3.8mm I'm also guessing that 4mm plate isn't going to last very long. I don't think I can get 'of the shelf' 5mm either. I may have to get 6mm and have it surface ground down to size.... Getting a rotor from over there is starting to look pretty good after all.... What's an extra few lb's in shipping amongst friends anyway.
