2003 KDX 200 cutting out at W.O.T

Hello everyone, just wanted to see if any of you have experienced this. Bike cuts out in 6th gear wide open throttle, I'm quite sure its ignition related. I ride primarily tight technical woods trials, never feel the issue in the woods only on the way to the trails or on the way home. I will check to see if I have any loose wires or anything, and take off ignition cover to check for anything unusual. Just wanted to run it by you guys to see if you might know what's up with it. By the way I do have the online manual, and thanks in advance for any input.

Check float height...mine did this after I lowered the floats to try and stop fuel overflow. 16mm +/- 2mm

+1 on the float height. Check the petcock inline filter inside the gas tank. Good luck

A 6th gear problem implies a high RPM problem with high load. (6th gear presents more of a load that lower gears because of the need for more power to support top speed). A float problem would most likely show symptoms in all gears at top RPM.
So either their is an intake or exhaust restriction or he just needs a richer main jet.

Does it miss at WOT in other gears? I'm betting that it does, and that it is fuel delivery related. As mentioned, check and adjust carb, petcock filter, make sure your intake and exhaust tracts are mechanically sound and then run through the jetting guide.

I agree with the guys that suggest checking fuel line and float level. I had similar problems before. It turned out to be lack of fuel. There was an O ring in the petcock that was deteriorating and clogging up the fuel line. When I was in the woods there was just enough fuel flow to keep the bike running fine but at WOT it would start to sputter. This may sound pretty far out but it's something easy to check.
