Strange noise Please watch my video

Post by NewKDX »

This noise is coming from the left side where the stator is, is the noise normal or does something need to be replaced?

Agree, try the easy things first. Feel around for anything vibrating. Take off the guard. Check to see if the pipe is touching the frame anywhere.

I assume it wasn't making that noise last time you rode it? Have you done any work on the bike since?

Something isn't right. Look how much your shock spring is moving around. That should be under tension and shouldn't be moving at all. Your carb is moving around more than I would expect as well.

I'm not following you there. How can everything else be stationary, but the carb and shock spring are moving around?

I watched the video and there is a bit of distorsion in the picture around the float bowl of the carb area. It makes it look like the carb is moving.

I agree with the post above, check the lock ring on the shock preload and make sure it is tight.

Sounds exactly like my bike...I would just run the torque wrench across all your fasteners to be safe, but sounds pretty normal to me. Also double check your pipe springs at the header, they sometimes will vibrate against the pipe (I usually cover mine with a piece of fuel line) and check your pipe mounts, the rubber piece on each of those has a tendency to separate after a while.

There maybe something that needs replaced I will keep riding it until it gets worse or the bike can't start. Its really irritating I spent $140 on a clutch inspection I was told by the guy who inspected it that the bike looked as if it came off the showroom floor brand new. Evidently the bike may just sound like that, time will tell. :please:

You spent $140 on a "clutch inspection"? That comes out to about $20 a bolt. Get a manual and do it yourself for 10 minutes of work and $2 worth of oil. These are the best bikes to learn basic maintenance on, not a lot you can do to kill them.

Sounds like mine.... Try grabbing things to see if the sound you are hearing stops. Right off the bat I notice your shifter is loose. You should probably tighten that before it loosens up more and strips.

Yeah $140 with oil change pretty ridiculous I also got new tie rods for my KFX 450 alignment was $40.00 which wasn't to bad so I thought I would let them check out my bike and see if anything is wrong with it. Next thing you know I am out $140.00 and the noise is still there.

KIPS rattle also changes when you pull in the clutch.

I still can't understand how the video is distorted to the point the entire shock spring is moving around, but the shock body and rod are perfectly still.
