Does anybody know if there is a pictorial post of how to change jets in the carb and clip thingy you all talk about? I have the manual on order from the dealer. I didn't see the manual on this site until after the order was in with the dealer. I am willing to try stuff but I need the pics and the words both. Just thinking about possible future re-jetting. I am pretty sure the 04 KDX 200 we have has stock jetting whatever that is.

its pretty self explanatory

once the float bowl is off there are only 2 things that can be removed with a screwdriver and a wrench, the pilot and the main jet

this should help too

Thanks diymirage. Thank explains a helluva a lot. In my non mechanical mind I always thought the carb was full of a million mysterious pieces. Can you access the jets to re-jet without removing the carb and just remove the bowl drain plug or does the carb have to come off? Are the stickers in the mail? Wicked awesome video.

im pretty sure you can loosen both carb boots and then twist it sideways enough to get the bowl of to rejet it
but pulling the carb of will allow you to properly clean it before you start the jetting process, not a bad idea for at least the first time you do it

I haven't gotten the stickers yet but I paid the invoice so im hoping to see them soon, as soon as I do ill send them your way
(took me a little while longer since my order was pretty complicated)

you can loosen the inlet and outlet and rotate carb a bit to ease the access to float bowl. getting to the slide/needle pretty much requires a tank pull. I have a RAD valve, so not sure about stock reed cage, but it makes it damn near impossible to get the carb out without pulling the tank.

DIYmirage has it right, if this is your first time, do yourself a favor and pull the carb so you can see how it works.

Slide needle? And where is the clip thing some of you folks talk about putting in the second, third etc position?

you mentioned the "clip thingy" in the first post. that is not part of the float bowl/jets area. it's a screw on cap that the throttle cable goes into, top of the carb. you will find the needle and clip, as well as the slide up there. you probably should pull it and clean that also.

there are several cuts in the needle, in order to find what position you are in just count

be very careful when you take the clip out and change it because they are tiny and like to get lost :doh:

just pull the damn thing. don't lose parts. if you can type on a keyboard, you can figure out the carb. :pop:

There isn't much too em. My brother is the same way about them and I think it's funny..

It helps to keep it upside while working on it. The only slightly tricky part is the float buoy, pivoting pin and fuel stop needle(covered in diy's video @ 2:20-3:00 mark). Anything else is nearly impossible to break as long you don't drop it or something.
