what is a good number for a KDX ?

Post by diymirage »

hey guys, im going to have some decals made for a project, including a set of number plates
my only issue is, I am planning to sell this bike so I have no real affiliation with it so im not sure what number to slap on it

I was thinking 220 but that might be to cliché
so, lets hear it

(and before you guys get any ideas, the wifey has already shot down 69)

If you are planning to sell it, don't put #s on it. It's just one more pain for the buyer, cleaning them off to put on their numbers.

yeah, these numbers wont come of, they will be printed onto the number plate decal

much like the ones I put on the wifeys bike

I kinda like the way the numbers look and I think it just gives it a certain look

not sure what potential buyers would think but that is why im posting the question here :)

Numbers are for racing. If I were buying the bike I'd rather the number panels be blank than have someone else's number on them.

But I am weird. Back when I was racing a lot I had two sets of plates for my YZ, blanks for trail riding, and preprints with my numbers. Felt poser-ish to me to go on trail rides and group rides with "hey look how cool I think I am" numbers.

interesting point Adam

I kinda got my heart set on a set of the number plate prints, mostly because how much they actually add to the look of the bike (even without the numbers)

this is the set im looking at
http://www.sengegraphics.com/Mayhem-Gre ... number.htm

but im having Steve replace the black with purple to match the tank and seat and I think it will look killer

if you scroll back up you can see where the riders name will be printed, that is going to say "KDXRIDER.NET"

I guess I will leave the number off

two immediate stops for me when looking to purchase an used bike: race numbers or sand paddle. you can bet that the bike is clapped out.

Got that right! I pass right on by.....

If you want to move it quick, put some Geritol or AARP stickers on it. Some Preparation H stickers would be sweet too. Tell the potential buyer that you can't ride fast "'Cause, you know, on account of the 'roids and all".

Gone in a day...., top dollar.

That is exactly why at one point in time I owned a Honda with the left side painted yellow and the right side painted red

I got a model car somewhere with a paints job inspired by that bike...I'll lpoke for some pics of it

Go to an enduro or hare scramble, then whatever number they give you, run that one. You will have a story to tell about the number.

the fast and furriest might be based on the kit I build mine out of

ive been told the proportions are all off on the one I build but it has a blow through twin turbo on it which is cool

still, I don't think it would be able to keep up with any of the mopar models I have

Call my paint scheme inspired by a Yamaha YZ

I'm a lazy ass without much eye for detail so most of my scale models are Auto-art, Maisto, Burago 1:18 diecast.

My only other kit is a Ferrari 599 GTO

got the number plate in...this is what I decided on

not sure why it looks a little pixelated in the pictures, the print is smooth as can be in real life

Looks really good....is that the 220 project with the new wiring harness and stator core or whatever?? What else is left to fix now , and why the heck would you sell it??? I would sell one of the 200's and keep that beast but that's just me

It just needs a pair of 6" green shock sox to replace those old corrugated boots

same person that made them made your fender decals which I dropped off at the post office today

yup, same bike
not a ton of things left, it has water for coolant because I wanted to flush the system before I fill it with coolant, I have a net set of bar grips and a throttle tube ready to go on
once that is on I can install the barkbusters
biggest thing is cleaning the carb again, I did it once but the float is either hanging up, poorly adjusted or....either way, it leaks gas and it doesn't feel like it has the power it should
either way, it needs to be jetted properly anyway, when I first cleaned the carb I only did it good enough to get her running to see if it was worth spending money on
right now the tally is just shy of $600.00 INLCUDING purchase of the bike

as for selling it, I cant explain to the wifey why I need 3 bikes
so the plated 200 stays, no question
the second 200 has technically been for sale since I rebuild it but after I rode it the first time I let the posting expire and kept riding it :shh:

what will happen now is both the 200 and the 220 will be offered for sale in the same ad, im thinking 1500 each or both for 2500
if both of em sell ill find me another basket case to nurture back to health
