FMF desert pipe leaking

Post by BlackMist »

Just picked up my desert pipe for my 220 on Friday, rode around for Saturday and discovered the welds around the tail pipe end has a leak through the weld (pinhole) and it's making somewhat of a mess.
Has anyone else had an issue with their gnarly pipes? I so how did you resolve it? I know the nickel coating they put on will make welding a nightmare, would they exchange it or because I've used it not so much?

I would think they would swap it out if there is a hole in a weld.

Did you put zip-ties on that rubber connector between the pipe and silencer? They usually won't seal well without some help.

I've used two part putty epoxy on pipes before. I had a hole where I had welded on a new hanger for a hybrid. The epoxy putty held on for a couple of years. You could not even tell it was epoxied unless you looked real close.

The seal is fine at the joint, it's a pin hole in the welds of the flange that's puking just enough spooge to make a mess. If it was on the bottom and hidden I'd just jb weld or high heat silicon it but it's on the top in plain sight. so for my brandy spankin new pipe to leak I'm a little choked since I know fmf has good quality every where else.

Yeah, I would get a hold of them and arrange an exchange. When you spend that much on a part you shouldn't have to put up with something as annoying as a leak.
