Need Advice on Purchase of KDX 200

Post by Divango »

Hello, I am new to the forum but have loved Green Machines since a child. I dreamed of owning a KDX when I tooled the woods on my 76 KD125. Much older now but still love to play in the dirt and found what appears to be a nice bike for around $1k. Not sure the year, seat looks to be '83 tank looks to be? Supposedly the new cylinder, piston and rings have 6 hours on them and all mechanicals are good. Headlight and computer apparently work but not tail light. Missing tool pouch which I would need to source. Any suggestions on what to look for and or if this is a fair deal on the bike?

Thanks for all help!

As someone who loves his air-cooled KDX, I say hold out for a liquid-cooled KDX. Unless a person truly loves that certain model of air-cooled KDX, it is a lot cheaper to repair and find information on a liquid-cooled KDX.

Can't give you an opinion on the price, but it looks very tidy for its age!

I personally would prefer a newer, water-cooled model, but that's just me.

That's an original "A'' model 1983-1985

The price seems about right for the condition it is in. If you buy it, be careful with it because parts won't be very easy to find!

I have a soft spot for the air cooled machines and will not be my primary dirt bike but more of a time machine! Would like to restore to as original as possible and keep as a collector bike.

Well, if it is what you want, then that looks like a pretty good one.

The pipe and spark arrestor look very shiny to be 31 years old. Perhaps they are repainted.
