OEM headlight
I cracked and broke the two plastic mounts on the upper portion of the headlight assy. I've tried to search, but I keep getting an error code. I found the replacement on RMATV (Part# 23005-5050-6W) and it's about $100.
Is there an inexpensive way to just replace the plastic housing piece that broke and not the entire assembly?

Re: OEM headlight
used off ebay or buy an aftermarket (UFO, Acerbis, etc.)
The stock headlight shrouds are expensive.

Re: OEM headlight
Thank you sir, I'll look on ebay first. Is there one or the other (between the UFO/Acerbis/Polisport) that KDXrider.net folks like better?

Have you tried to epoxy the mounts back together? My youngest beat up the CRF230 shrouds pretty good and I had to epoxy the lower mounts back on. It's held for 2 years now. One of his headlight mounts on the KDX is just about to need epoxied, so I will go that route first.

Funny you say that, I was just looking at the broken mounts thinking, "I wonder if there is a way to rig this up so that it still works, and doesn't look too bad."Fitterman24 wrote:Have you tried to epoxy the mounts back together? For the price of some epoxy, I'm going to give it a, shot.

Re: OEM headlight
If your talking about the 2 vertical oriantated plastic tabs that the front plate can pivot on. I broke the off mine and tried loctite, epoxy , silicon and finally plastic pvc glue which all pretty much failed. I finally tried a hot glue and it has lasted longer than all the rest. When / if this hot glue fails I will plastic weld them back on.

Those are the tabs I speak of! For now they're zip tied to whats left of either side of the tabs. Seems to be holding pretty solid. I figure it's probably good for this season, and I can use the 50 bucks on fuel.
Nothing seems to improve my riding skill/ability so much as running fuel through the carb and putting in hours on the bike.

Re: OEM headlight
if you are not too concerned with looks you can get a little piece of angle iron and just drill a hole in there and use that to replace the tab
I did that with my woods bike, just drilled a few small holes right through the headlight shroud and bolted it straight to it
looks like a hackjob but works like a charm

I broke the tabs on the headlight shroud on my 2004. I used drywall tape and shoe goo to reinforce them. Holding fine so far and there is a little flex to move around a bit.
