Frame Value - Titled

Post by hadfield4wd »

Guys I hope you can help me out. I have a 1990 frame with a street legal VA title. I'll be selling it in a couple of months. What is it worth? I cost me $112 just to get the title.

hard to say, with a titled frame comes a lot of work
if I could cut a check for $112 and get it plated I would much rather do that then buy a plated frame for $40, spend another 200 in bearings and swap every nut and bolt from my existing bike onto the plated frame

having said that, I am looking to buy a plated frame for $40.00 if I can figure out how to get it here

Frame Value - Titled

Post by sarrant »

It would have a lot to do with the laws in your state (and the one of the buyer).

In California, it's impossible to plate an offroad vehicle (or any other) without a factory emissions certification or applicable exemption since 2003, so I'd probably consider paying $500 or more for a California plated frame with no back fees.

In other cases, a frame is worth effectively nothing.

that's what I was thinking. It's really worth nothing without the title. I did it as an experiment to see if I could get a title. Depends on where and who. ebay may be my best bet for money.

diymirage, I could possibly sell you this one, I'd like to break even though. I could check the shipping price so you'd have an idea. It'll be about a month and a half before I'm ready though.
