New Reeds - Opinions?

Post by chippy »

I am ready to replace the reeds on my 06 KDX 200. I was looking to upgrade to either the Boysen Rad valve or the V-Force reed assy. What I would like is some input from someone who has tried them. Are they really much of an improvement, or is my money better spent on stock replacement reeds. Which brand/style works best? Most of our riding is alpine single track at mid-elevations (3000-7000 ft.) with the occasional trip to the Utah desert (Moab area). I am runnig an FMF Desert pipe for the open areas, and stock pipe in the mountains. Any opinions?
Thanks,
Chip

I really like my Vforce III's. They made the throttle response more crisp. Worth it over super stock reeds? I don't know. However, I'm very happy with them.

+1 on V-force. I also noticed great throttle response and a super smooth idle. They also use no screws that can come loose and destroy your engine.

I`m running the boyesen rad valve on my 220, once you dial the jetting in to suit, it performs very well...if jeff fredette & eric gorr recommends them then its good enough for me

Are any modifications needed to install either the V-Force or Boyesen reed cages? ( cutting the boots, spacers etc.)

No mods needed for the VFIII's. Just bolt them in.
