Front wheel Spacer

Post by Narrdo »

The PO of the bike I bought had removed the odometer and cut the cable at the top of the unit on the front wheel. I have no real interest in replacing it but would like to remove the part on the wheel too. Is there a spacer available to do that?

I just removed the cable and filled the hole with some sort of clear caulking...can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

I'd like to replace mine also as I don't have an odo or cable. Probably something I may take to a machine shop for them to make me one

Front wheel Spacer

there was a company that made one so you could use the kdx hub still. I imagine someone can chime in here that has one. I cannot remember the thread or post it was in.

Word of advice and trust me on this. Take that puppy apart and service it and then seal it up after taking the cable off. I had mine just fall to pieces and spin with hub then just lock the wheel. Not fun at all.

Since then I just replaced it with a used one and capped it off and threw some marine grease in it. Works fine and never a prob really but if you let water get into it by cable opening your just asking for something down the road.
If you cant fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.

I had a wheel spacer made for mine. I could have my machinist buddy make another one or two. Wouldn't cost much at all. I have a 93 with used forks, not sure if its the same as 89-92 or H series though. I don't have time right now, but I wonder if the speedo housings are all the same part number for the kdx line of bikes...
