Is this the OEM piston? H-Series KDX200

Post by Joshmcmillan »

So I took the head off my newly acquired H-series KDX200 for the first time today (noticed that KIPS sub-valve was in backwards), and I'm wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this Piston or Crankshaft assembly?
The bike has 5000km's on the clock and is road registered (meaning potentially lower hours than that may usually show).

Reason I ask is, I'm wondering whether to replace the piston or not. Bike had good compression and started easily before I pulled it apart.

looks oem. You can measure it ,but I bet it will measure small. Its cheap insurance to replace it with a forged one. Wiseco or Wossner would be a great upgrade.

Ordered a Wossner B sized piston (very very slightly larger for use with slightly worn OEM sized cylinders), top end gasket kit and new top end bearing.

Thanks for the reply. After further inspection the rings were WAY out of spec, don't know how they stayed on as long as they did with no major cylinder damage.

Nice choice! Just put a Wossner in my YZ250. Very nice machining and coated. Really a work of art.

They do look nice with the coated skirts. I've used one on a trashed CR80 I bought to fix up and re-sell. Hoping all bits arrive soon as I'm keen to get my new KDX running again!
