big boy springs???

I've got an 02 kx 250 that I'm setting up for woods riding. I think the bike is about 215lbs dry and I have guards on it so probably around another 20lbs there... (235 lbs). I am about 270 lbs with gear but plan on being down to 250. So my question is what size of springs would I need for a 250lb rider in the woods. I will be doing a lil bit of motocross as I get more experience. But nothing big.

I need info for both fork springs as well as rear shock spring. All of the charts or anything that I've found only go to 220lb rider weight.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Check out Racetech's website. They have an online spring calculator that should help you out. I'm running what they recommended and it has worked well for me.

I would say tack on another .04 for springs and .4 for shock to what a 22- EDIT: 220 pound rider is showing.

I would say .50 on springs, with a revalve for the woods.

Generally, forks and shock can be set up for woods or MX, not both.

If you do get down to 250 in full gear or don't mind it being on the softer side of some perfect rate, go for the .48's.

I am 240 in gear and run 48's on my KX250. This is strictly MX.

Unless I pound through the woods, the stock valving beat me to death, even with the compression adjuster set to full soft on the forks.

Get the correct rate springs, adjust the compression adjuster (on the bottom of those year forks) and go ride. If it beat you up, a revalve is a must.
