Handlebar thread KDX-220

Hello There,
Does anyone knows (a) what is the type of thread (size, etc.) in the stock KDX-220 R handlebars clutch side and (b) what is it for?
The handlebar is threaded at only this left/clutch size and I'm trying to install a handguard for trial rides but the bolt does not fit in. I guess I could tap it to the handguard size but I don;t want to do so, instead to find the bolt that will work with such thread.
Any tips and factual information is appreciated.
